Parenting Retreat: Connecting with your Autistic child

2021 Biannual Parenting Retreat

Connecting with your Autistic child

20 – 22 August, 2021  |  Links House  |  Bowral, NSW

Expressions of interest for this Retreat have now closed. We will contact all applicants by the end of June to advise you on the outcome of your application.

Would you like to strengthen your knowledge of Autism?

Do you long to understand your Autistic child on a deeper level?

The Reframing Autism team invites you to join us for a weekend filled with learning and insight from Autistic experts, and parents of Autistic children, Dr Melanie Heyworth and Ginny Grant.

Over the weekend, Mel and Ginny will guide you to a new appreciation of Autism, while providing you with the practical skills to parent your Autistic child with empathy, joy and deep connection. The ultimate purpose of the weekend is for you to come away with an increased understanding of Autism as a neurology, so that you have the evidence-based tools to bond with your Autistic child, and to enjoy an empowering and joyful relationship together. The topics and content covered throughout the Retreat will be tailored to the needs of both individuals and the group, but will be targeted to an introductory level. The Retreat is thus best suited to parents and carers early in their Autism journey. Importantly, you will have many opportunities throughout to weekend to speak with the Reframing Autism team, and gain their insight into your specific situation and circumstances, as well as to connect with other parents on a similar journey.

Located within the stunning Southern Highlands region, Links House will provide you with a welcoming two-night stay in your private room with ensuite and modern facilities. Across the weekend, you will be treated to a seasonal menu by the Ethos restaurant team, using ingredients sourced from the local area. Enjoy delicious food in a relaxed and empathetic environment while building connections with other parents attending the Retreat.

At the conclusion of this event, we will send you home with an extensive resources kit so that you can continue to grow and feel supported in your family’s daily life, long after you have left us.

Completing the survey is not a guarantee of attendance at the Retreat, but will give us the necessary information to understand and assess your family’s needs.

Did you know? If your child has an NDIS plan that includes a budget line for parent education, and you are plan- or self-managed, you can claim your registration costs for Reframing Autism events from your child’s NDIS funding.
